Pasture Raised Eggs

Our 2000 hens are free to express their 'inner chookiness' by roaming around the great outdoors, all day, every day. Stocked at 500 hens to the hectare they are grouped in small, age specific flocks and are supplemented with an ASP certified grain to balance their diet. With no antibiotics, no chemicals and no hormones, these eggs are nutrient dense and full of flavour, in fact, we’re often told our eggs “taste like eggs used to taste”.

Frequently asked questions

Our happy hens are given plenty of room to stretch out and roam - with a maximum of 500 birds per hectare. To put it into perspective, Australian 'free range' standards can stock at 10,000 birds per hectare. At 20x the space of free range hens, our girls have plenty of room to forage, dust bathe, roam, explore and socialise.

They have 24/7 access to shelter and nesting boxes in the form of our relocatable chicken tractors.

We aim to move the girls onto fresh pasture weekly.

What conditions do our hens live in?

Hens are omnivores and require a variety of food sources to maintain a full diet. As well as the insects and plants that they forage in the pasture, we provide the girls with a supplement of non-GMO grains, amino acids and other essential nutrients.

What do our hens eat?

Our beautiful maremma dogs do a beautiful job protecting the girls from predators such as foxes and eagles. We currently have four maremmas on farm tasked with this very special assignment.

How do we protect our girls from predators?

We aim to re-home 100% of our retiring hens to backyard farms. We do this in collaboration with the local Allora hardware shop, as well as offering pickup from the farm directly. We're never in a rush to re-home, so this process often takes a few months, meaning our girls can find the best homes possible.

What happens to our hens at the end of their life?
